Madrid hosted the 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Executive Search Federation (IESF), the world’s largest association of independent executive search firms, on September 15th – 18th 2009. The Russian Federation was represented by CONSORT Group, the IESF exclusive partner for Russia/CIS since 2005.

The IESF Annual General Meeting in Hong Kong was preceded on 10th September by a client conference entitled Doing Business in Emerging Markets. The event was devoted to investment opportunities in BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China). An enormous supply of resources paramount to world’s economies and high economic growth rates in these countries attract multi-billion investments. Investment and other business opportunities in BRIC were explored in their respective reports by Michael Bogdanov (Russia), Vivek Ahuja (India), Silvana Case (Brazil), Jaap Hoekstra (Romania), and Andrew Walker (Bulgaria).

With the Russian economy in rude health and new employment opportunities opening up, the vexing question of what time of year is best to move jobs has become more and more relevant. Russians traditionally believe that autumn is the time to find the best opportunities, but as the economy matures this nostrum is being challenged.

15-16 March 2006. Kazakhstan, Almaty. Yury Mikhailov of CONSORT Consulting Group, was invited to attend The Eurasian HR Congress as a speaker representing IESF.

Before moving to their new office at Ostozhenka, the management of Consort Group engaged in manpower consulting had carefully planned premises for the staff of 90. Special attention was paid to a line of isolated rooms (dubbed «confessionals») for confidential talks with clients. Managers were placed in the general hall after the western pattern, where they initially thought to fashion the workplace of general manager Mikhail Bogdanov as well. But on careful examination they decided not to give up on a traditional office for the principal of a firm where our conversation with him took place.
